As of June 2009, the Buckman Direct Diversion (BDD) Project was on schedule, according to the BDD Contractor. This summer, work on the raw water and finished water pipelines will be completed. Two major area impacts will occur beginning in July.
Impacts:
- Beginning July 1, access to the Rio Grande at the end of Buckman Road will be provided through a temporary road at the river. Visitors will still be able to access the river, but must use the detour route to do so. (Click on F4 on map for larger view)
- Beginning July 1, PNM will begin installing power feeds along Buckman Road. Temporary delays may occur for the safety of PNM crews and motorists. If possible, motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. (Click on P1 on map for larger view)
Other areas crews will be working in this summer (and their position on the map) include:
F1 – Crews will continue working on the Water Treatment Plant (expected through February 2011)
F2 – Crews will continue working on Booster Station 2A. Expect local area congestion due to deliveries, off-loading and general materials handling on occasion.
F3 – Crews will continue working on Booster Station 1A. Expect local area congestion due to to deliveries, off-loading and general materials handling on occasion.
F4 – Crews will continue working on the BDD Diversion Structure and Raw Water Lift Station at the Rio Grande. Construction activities will block access to the river in the immediate construction area, however access will be provided upstream and downstream of the construction area via a temporary road. Expect local area congestion due to deliveries, off-loading, and general material handling on occasion.
In general, construction crews will work from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, although longer work hours or weekend work may be required on occasion for emergencies or in response to weather conditions.
