BDD Construction

Construction of the Buckman Direct Diversion Project began in September 2008 and is required to be completed, with the project operational, by Spring 2011. The BDD includes the following facilities:

  • A diversion structure on the Rio Grande
  • A sediment settling facility
  • Two raw water booster stations
  • A 15-million-gallon-per-day City/County Water Treatment Plant that incorporates membrane filtration, ozone disinfection, and granular-activated carbon filtration
  • Two treated water pump stations
  • 11 miles of 12”-30” diameter raw water pipeline
  • 14 miles of 16”-30” diameter finished water pipeline
